Even though sedans don’t command a market share what they used to nearly a decade ago, they still do a decent business on a monthly basis. Hyundai Verna is one of the prominent names in the mid-size SUV segment. Currently in its fourth generation, Hyundai is working on providing the Verna a significant makeover.
A test mule of the upcoming Verna facelift has been spotted testing for the first time. This will be the first notable update to the fourth-gen Verna ever since it was launched in India in March 2023. The images show a test prototype completely wrapped underneath a black sheath carrying a red registration plate showing the vehicle is registered under Tamil Nadu.

The spy images have reportedly been clicked in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. Although the covering prevents from revealing all intricate details about the vehicle, the latest spy shots are a good indication of what changes to expect from the upcoming Verna. For starters, the rear bumper looks tweaked a bit although we can’t say much about the taillamp which looks to be similar

We expect a nip and tuck job at the front fascia as well although there are no images to support the same. The current Verna has received a polarising feedback about its radical front end and Hyundai may work on to give it a bold yet subtle appearance. Hyundai is known to remove fog lights in its facelifted models and the upcoming Verna might meet the same fate. Rest of the details remain unchanged which include a shark fin antenna, sharp creases on the profile, same alloy wheels, and conventional door handles.Â

The Verna is already the most feature-packed model in its segment, but it is likely to gain a few more conveniences in its facelifted iteration. This a larger touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear seat ventilation, rear window shades, reclining rear seats, Digital Key with NFC technology, etc.
2026 Hyundai Verna facelift: Expected Powertrain
Mechanically, the 2026 Verna will most likely retain the current engine options. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol mill. The former kicks out 114 bhp and 144 Nm of peak torque, while being paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. The turbo petrol unit pumps out 158 bhp and 263 Nm of peak torque while being mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
