Hyundai to offer 6 airbags as standard across all models

Working towards a safer roadmap for India, Hyundai has announced voluntary participation in Bharat NCAP with 3 models to begin with.

Made-in-India Hyundai Verna has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Global NCAP.

Hyundai has made some key announcements in light of recent events. The Korean auto giant is currently in limelight with the made-in-India Verna securing a 5-star safety rating by the Global NCAP. On the sidelines of the same, Hyundai has announced it will offer 6 airbags as standard fitment across all models in its India lineup from now onwards.

Commenting on the landmark announcement, Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, said “At Hyundai ‘Safety-for-all’ is our utmost priority and we have been benchmark creators in standardisation of vehicle safety features. Now, we are elated to announce the standardisation of 6 Airbags across all models & all variants.”

The year 2023 saw HMIL achieve key safety milestones through standardisation of critical safety equipment and bolstering of active and passive safety features in high volume models. Out of the 13 models available in its portfolio, all models offer safety features like 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts, and seat belt reminder as standard fitment.

Further, features like electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and tyre pressure monitoring system have been added to all models in the lineup either as standard or optional. Hyundai is also offering Advanced Driver Assistance System in a total of five models including the Ioniq 5 which offers it as standard. Recently, the Venue became the most affordable model in the country to be offered with ADAS functionalities.

The five-star rated Hyundai Verna is bolstered by more than 30 standard safety features including Airbags, ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), Impact sensing auto door unlock, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), ISOFIX, Headlamp Escort Function, etc.

Additionally, the sedan comes equipped with over 65 safety features including advanced safety features such as Hyundai SmartSense – Level 2 ADAS, Front Parking Sensors, Electronic Parking Brake and TPMS (Highline) to name a few.
