Hyundai is gearing up to launch the updated Ioniq 5 in India sometime later this year. First launched in India in 2022, the Ioniq 5 received a mid-cycle facelift internationally last year. Ahead of its launch, a test mule of the updated Ioniq 5 was spotted testing recently.
The heavily camouflaged testing prototype in the latest spy shot can be seen carrying a temporary registration plate of Tamil Nadu. For reference, the Ioniq 5 comes to India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model which is assembled in Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur-based manufacturing facility.

As seen in the international model, the facelifted Hyundai Ioniq 5 mostly gets a nip and tuck job. We can observe minute changes in the front grille and new alloy wheels. The rear bumper features a more sculpted design, and the parking sensors seem to have been repositioned. Aerodynamic performance is enhanced by an extended rear spoiler, now 50 mm longer than before.

Inside the cabin, Hyundai has added a few additional buttons to give it a more tactile feel. Functions such as seat ventilation, heated steering wheel, and parking assist can now be controlled by physical buttons rather than the infotainment screen. Also, the wireless charging pad has also been relocated to the top of the center console.
Speaking of which, the updated Ioniq 5 comes equipped with a more advanced Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system which gets navigation, enhanced graphics along with OTA updates and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.The safety package has been upgraded to include eight airbags and an enhanced collision avoidance system.

While on the surface, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift may not receive any radical updates, underneath the surface, it packs plenty of significant upgrades. A stiffer cowl crossbar has been added to reduce steering wheel vibrations. Likewise, reinforcements around the rear wheels and underbody have been doubled to enhance stability and agility.

Body rigidity has been increased to reduce low-frequency noise, while the rear motor now features improved sound insulation for a quieter cabin experience. More importantly, the electric crossover now offers enhanced side-impact protection thanks to structural upgrades to the B-pillar sections, body shell, and both the front and rear doors.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift: Powertrain
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is expected to launch in India with a larger battery pack option. Internationally, the Ioniq 5 is offered with an 84 kWh battery that delivers a WLTP-certified range of 570 km on a single charge. In comparison, the current Indian variant comes equipped with a 72.6 kWh battery, producing 214 bhp and 350 Nm of torque.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 discounts
Ahead of its launch later this year, Hyundai is reportedly offering hefty discounts on the existing Ioniq 5. According to Autocar India, the South Korean carmaker is offering a whopping Rs 4 lakh cash discount on the MY2024 Ioniq 5. It is currently priced at Rs 46.05 lakh (ex-showroom).
