The Creta is the primary breadwinner for Hyundai in India and overall one of the highest selling SUVs in the market. Hence, the Korean auto giant offers plenty of options in terms of engine, transmission, features, and colours making a long list of variants for the mid-size SUV.

Besides the regular lineup, Hyundai keeps adding special edition variants every now and then to keep the Creta in the limelight. It seems Hyundai is planning to launch another special edition of the Creta soon. The company has homologated new variants of the same under the Delhi Transport department. Documents verifying the same can be found below.

Hyundai Creta special edition: What to expect?

The homologation documents reveal the special edition name as Creta SE, however, we are yet to ascertain what ‘SE’ stands for.  It is likely to denote Special Edition or Sports Edition. This new edition will be based on the S(O) and SX(O) trims. A total of eight variants of this special edition Creta will be launched including four diesel and four petrol. The documentation reveals no change in engine specifications.

We expect Hyundai to offer a few cosmetic changes over the regular S(O) and SX(O) trims of Creta. If it is indeed a Sports Edition, we expect some sporty enhancements such as blacked-out trims like the grille, wheels, etc. That said, it is difficult to predict the exact nature of changes. Since the upcoming Creta special edition will be based on mid-spec variants, we don’t expect any additional features added to the equipment.

Hyundai Creta special edition: Powertrain specs

As mentioned earlier, the Creta special edition will come with two engine options: a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel unit. The former puts out 114 bhp and 144 Nm of peak torque while the latter develops 114 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is common to both whereas a CVT and a 6-speed torque converter is offered as an option to the petrol and diesel motors respectively.
