It is no big secret that Hyundai has been working on a fully-electric Creta for a couple of years now. Prototypes of the battery-powered SUV have been spotted testing on numerous occasions over the past few months. The Korean carmaker recently confirmed that the upcoming Creta EV will be breaking covers at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
Now, it has come to light that the Hyundai Creta EV will be launched on 17 January 2025, the first day of Bharat Mobility Expo open for the general public. Hyundai will reportedly kickstart with the production of the Creta by the end of this year.
Hyundai Creta EV: Design
The design of the Creta EV will most likely remain unchanged barring few subtle variations. Being an EV, it will house a typical closed front grille and more aerodynamic 17-inch alloy wheels for better efficiency. Previous spy shots have suggested that the Creta EV will get a redesigned rear bumper. Besides these minor updates, the overall design will remain identical.

The front fascia of Cretra EV will flaunt a jewel-theme grille flanked by a split lighting setup with dual-projector LED headlamps, and twin LED DRLs each side on top. The side profile and rear end are also expected to borrow the same layout as the fossil-fueled Creta.
Hyundai Creta EV: Interiors & Features
While the new electric Creta SUV will borrow its cabin layout from its ICE sibling, it will gain a fresh three-spoke steering wheel, replacing the flat-bottom design. Additionally, there’s a strong possibility of a stalk drive selector being positioned behind the wheel, offering a more contemporary feel. The interior is further enhanced by a curved 10.25-inch dual-screen setup, comprising the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster.

To complement the electric theme, the upholstery features a unique Creta electric motif. As an EV, it’s anticipated to bring a host of new features to the table. In terms of features, the Creta EV will boast Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist control, electronic stability control, front parking sensors and much more.
Hyundai Creta EV: Expected powertrain, rivals
According to reports, the Creta EV is anticipated to be built on the modified ICE platform that underpins Creta. While there’s no official word on it regarding its specs, the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV is expected to draw power from a 45 kWh battery. It will borrow the same powertrain as Hyundai Kona electric sold internationally.Â

This will involve a single-motor setup driving the front wheels and delivering 136 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. When launched, the Hyundai Creta EV will go up against the likes of MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV and the upcoming Maruti eVX.
