Honda WR-V spotted at dealership, India launch on 16th March

Honda WR-V will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai i20 Active, Mahindra TUV300 and Toyota Etios Cross in its segment.

Honda Cars India is gearing up for its second launch of the year, a crossover hatchback, WR-V(Winsome Runabout Vehicle ). Before the launch, the manufacturer has started delivering some units of crossover to dealerships, as seen in the pictures here. According to Autocar Professional, the WR-V is expected to be launch on 16th March, 2017. It was first showcased in November 2016, at the Sao Paulo Auto Show. For the production of upcoming compact SUV, the company has acquired 380 acres of land in Vithalapur, Gujarat. Right now, the car is being produced at the company’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.

According to the spy images of the WR-V spotted at dealership, the variant is expected to be VX trim and shares it design elements with the Jazz. On the exterior, the crossover features a new set of headlamps with circular fog lamps, faux skid plates, chrome door handles, diamond cut alloy wheels and ORVM’s (Outside Rear View Mirror). Inside cabin, the WR-V gets touch screen infotainment system compatible with Bluetooth, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, new gear lever, horizontal AC vents and start/stop ignition switch is missing from the crossover. Essentially, the WR-V is a taller vehicle with the same underpinnings of the Jazz.

The Honda WR-V will carry the same engines as seen in the Honda Jazz and it will be powered by a 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine. The power and torque figures in the WR-V are expected to remain same at 87 hp and 110 Nm for the petrol variants, while the diesel trims will deliver 100 hp and 200 Nm. The petrol engine will come with a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT (Continuously variable transmission) might be on the cards. The diesel variants will only have a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Honda WR-V is expected to be priced between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai i20 Active, Mahindra TUV300 and Toyota Etios Cross in its segment.
