Honda has announced a price hike for two of its best-selling models in India, the City and Elevate. Honda has hiked prices by up to Rs 20,000 on the City and the Elevate with immediate effect, making them more expensive. Honda currently has one offering in each segment: City in the mid-size sedan segment, the Elevate in the SUV segment, and the new Amaze in the sub-4 metre compact sedan class.
Honda City price hike
The Honda City has been the carmaker’s best-seller in India for a long time, ever since its launch in 1998. Now in its fifth generation, the City’s prices now start at Rs 11.82 lakh, ex-showroom. The price hike affects select variants which include the SV MT, V MT, VX MT, VX CVT, ZX MT, and ZX CVT trims.
The Honda City is powered by a sole 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 119bhp and 145Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. Honda also offers a hybrid engine that makes 107bhp and 127Nm of torque, however, the Hybrid version does not see a price hike.
Honda Elevate price hike
The Honda Elevate was a latecomer to the mid-size SUV segment, a space dominated by the Hyundai Creta. The Elevate also sees a price hike of up to Rs 20,000 on select models: V, VX, and ZX. Like the Honda City, the Honda Elevate is also offered with a sole 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 119bhp and 145Nm of torque with the help of a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Also, unlike the Honda City, the Honda Elevate has no hybrid version.
