Honda BR-V compact SUV that made its India debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, will be launched in the Indian market on May 5, 2016. While the pre-launch activities for the vehicle have already begun, official bookings might commence closer to its launch. The only 7-seater vehicle in its league, Honda BR-V will compete against the likes of Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.
Built on the locally-developed extended Brio platform, the Honda BR-V is likely to be priced quite aggressively. Though the company hasn’t yet commented on its pricing yet, we expect it to fall between Rs 8 lakh – Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
With 4455 length, 1735mm width, 1650mm height and 2660mm wheelbase, the Honda BR-V will be bigger and more spacious than its rivals. Engine options on offer will be – a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel – both mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the petrol engine develops 117bhp and 145Nm, the diesel powertrain churns out 99bhp and 200Nm. Both of these engines do duty in the Honda Mobilio as well.
