Honda has reduced the number of variants on offer in Amaze. This comes a few weeks after reports of the Japanese auto giant developing a new-gen model of Amaze were first published. The compact sedan is the most affordable model from Honda in India, with prices starting at Rs 7.93 lakh (ex-showroom).
Amaze is now available in two trims— S and VX. The compact sedan was previously available in four variants— E, S, VX, and Elite Edition. Based on the top-end VX variant, the Amaze Elite Edition was introduced during the festive period last year.Â
Variants | S | VX |
1.2 Petrol Manual | Rs. 7,92,800 | Rs. 9,04,000 |
1.2 Petrol CVT | Rs. 8,82,600 | Rs. 9,86,000 |
It came equipped with additional fittings such as a rear spoiler, an illuminated sidestep, an anti-fog film on the wing mirrors, and more. The entry-level E variant has also been shelved, which came at a sticker price of Rs 7.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Being a bare-bones model, the Amaze E was usually opted for by fleet and cab operators.
Amaze rivals other sub-4 metre sedans such as Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor. However, unlike all its nemesis, Amaze is the only model in its segment to not offer the option of factory-fitted CNG kit.
New-gen Honda Amaze: Expected launch, powertrain
Reports suggest that Honda will launch the new-gen Amaze in India during the festive season, most probably around Diwali, later this year. The current car has been on sale since 2018 and received a mid-cycle facelift in 2021. The new Amaze will be based on the City platform which also underpins Elevate. The architecture will be tweaked to bring it under 4 metre.

The new-gen Honda Amaze is most likely to be powered by the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated i-Vtec petrol engine as the current model. This unit is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic gearbox and kicks out 89 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre i-Dtec diesel mill earlier offered was discontinued last year and isn’t expected to make a return.
