Honda has set foot in the CNG segment with one of its best-sellers, the Amaze. The new Honda Amaze CNG is based on the latest-generation Amaze, which was launched in India recently. The Honda Amaze CNG competes in an extremely competitive segment and one of its primary rivals is the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG, which also saw a major revamp recently. Here’s a quick comparison between the two vehicles.

Honda Amaze CNG vs Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG — An overview

The Honda Amaze is the carmaker’s entry-level offering in India and saw a major revamp recently. The car got a major design update and is the only vehicle in the segment to get ADAS, making it a stand-out feature. However, all these features will be filtered down with the CNG version as the Amaze CNG is available in select versions only. Also, a major aspect to note here is that the Amaze CNG is an option by dealers and not from Honda directly, meaning it is a retrofit.

Moving on to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire — the sedan has been one of Maruti Suzuki’s best-sellers in India and at times, even the best-selling vehicle in India. With the major revamp the car has seen, this is the best-looking Dzire to date. Maruti Suzuki offers the Dzire CNG in two variants — VXi and ZXi — and they get all the features the respective petrol siblings get. One of the biggest advantages the Dzire has over the Amaze is that the CNG option is from the factory. However, both vehicles sacrifice boot space to accommodate the CNG tank.

Honda Amaze CNG vs Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG — Engine specifications

The new Honda Amaze and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire run on 1.2-litre engines. In the Amaze, the four-cylinder engine makes 89 bhp and 110Nm of torque with the help of a five-speed manual gearbox, while the Maruti Suzuki Dzire draws 80bhp from a three-cylinder engine. In CNG guise, the Dzire makes 69bhp, while Honda has not revealed details about the Amaze CNG.
