Mercedes-Benz has launched the first ever fully-electric Maybach in India. Called the Maybach EQS 680 SUV, it is the flagship model in Merc’s global portfolio and priced at a whopping Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom). The luxury electric SUV comes to India as a fully-imported CBU model.
This makes it the fifth battery-powered model in the German marque’s India lineup after EQA, EQB, EQE SUV, and the EQS sedan. It is based on the standard EQS SUV and also shares the same powertrain. In all other respects, the Maybach EQS SUV is different from the standard EQS.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV: Design
The EQS 650 borrows exterior styling elements from other Maybach models in the Mercedes lineup. For starters, it gets a blacked-out signature Maybach grille with a waterfall pattern featuring vertical chrome strips. The classic Maybach lettering is subtly integrated into a chrome strip aligned with the continuous LED light stripe connecting the digital headlights flanking the massive grille.
The Maybach pattern is carried over to trim parts of the side bumper and is projected on the doors as well. The side profile highlights the dual-tone colour scheme of the luxury SUV. The profile of the vehicle exudes a sleek and streamlined appearance, courtesy of the flush-fitting door handles that create a seamless silhouette.Â
Accents of chrome on the side step and window line add a touch of sophistication and elegance, further enhancing the electric SUV’s overall aesthetic appeal. The luxury electric SUV benefits from high-gloss black cladding, and exclusive 21 or 22-inch alloy wheels to choose from. At the rear, visual highlights include continuous light strip rear lights and chrome accents on the tailgate, rear apron, and spoiler lip.
Other exterior highlights include illuminated running boards with anodized aluminium treads and high-gloss black cladding around wheel arches. The new EQS SUV is offered with a handcrafted dual-tone paintwork in five combinations.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV: Interiors & features
Interiors of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV gets a familiar triple-screen display with bespoke Maybach start-up sequences. The rear seat entertainment package is equally impressive, comprising twin 11.6-inch displays mounted on the front seatbacks, accompanied by the versatile MBUX tablet, which can be used both inside and outside the vehicle.
To further elevate the luxury experience, the Maybach EQS SUV offers two optional packages: the Chauffeur package and the First-Class Rear package. The latter includes an array of premium amenities, such as thermal cup holders, a dedicated shelf for the MBUX rear tablet, four USB-C ports, and two HDMI interfaces.
Passenger safety is taken care of by 11 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) features like lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
With tons of customisations on offer buyers can spruce up the cabin with luxury add-ons including sleek folding tables, a cooling compartment, and exquisite silver-plated champagne goblets, perfect for indulging in a glass of fine champagne on the go.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV: Powertrain specs
Powering the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is a dual-motor setup drawing energy from a 122 kWh battery pack which returns peak output of 484 kW and 950 Nm of torque. The battery returns a peak range of 611 kilometres (WLTP) on a single charge. Using a 200 kW DC fast charger, 300 km charge can be topped up within 20 minutes.
As for performance, the EQS 680 can clock a top speed of 210 kmph and can sprint from a standstill to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds.
