Supercars in Bengaluru have been under the Transport Department’s radar, and the latest to come under scrutiny was a Ferrari SF90 Stradale. Officers asked the owner to pay a massive tax of Rs 1.42 crore for evading Karnataka road tax. Here’s more on the story.
Ferrari SF90 Stradale cracked down
The Bengaluru officials from the Traffic department and the Transport department have been cracking down on expensive cars and recently, seized over 30 supercars for evading taxes. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale came under the radar for a similar reason, and when checked, the car was registered to Mumbai, but was plying on Karnataka roads without the state taxes.
The Ferrari SF90 Stradale costs Rs 7.5 crore and was under the scanner for a few days before authorities took action. The car was eventually found and was seized by the officials. Also, the owner was given time till the same day evening to pay taxes and served a notice that also warned of legal consequences if not paid. The owner promptly cleared the taxes – which amounted to Rs 1,41,59,041 – and was given a clean chit.
As per the officials, this was the largest tax recovered from a single vehicle in recent times, and they have also said that they will continue to crack down on such luxury and sportscars plying on Karnataka roads without valid taxes.
And speaking about the car itself, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors, delivering a combined 986 horsepower. The car can accelerate from 0–100kmph in 2.5 seconds and go on top reach a top speed of 340kmph.
