We have all seen a counterfeit Ferrari t-shirt, perfume or even an F1 Prancing Horse F1 product. Well, Ferrari has officially declared war on fake merchandise as it destroys 4 lakh items including three cars. Maranello is not stepping off the gas either and soon dealers selling these faux pas products could be next on its radar.
Crushing mountain of fake products
Ferrari shared a post on its social media account revealing. The Italian iconic sports car maker stated that in 2023, it destroyed 4 lakh fake products. The company did not even spare three fake cars sporting the famous Ferrari emblem.
Based on the numbers shared by Ferrari, last year, the company got rid of 100,351 clothing, 91,229 sunglasses, 60,903 wristwatches, 57,503 wallets, 30,161 perfumes, 17,231 bags, 17,438 shoes, 13,1415 belts and 11,500 labels. There are still more memorabilia like 1,092 balls, 872 scale model cars and 800 fake scooters.

No surprise that clothing topped the fake items list thanks to the popularity of Formula 1 also, followed by sunglasses and watches.
Ferrari’s anti-counterfeiting reward scheme
Last year, Ferrari launched an anti-counterfeiting reward scheme that helps the company keep track of commercial establishments selling its counterfeit merchandise. Anyone can reach out to Ferrari and share the details of businesses with these fake items. In return, Ferrari will officially thank you and award you with a Prancing Horse gadget.
Speaking to the media, Carlo Daneo, General Legal Counsel of Ferrari, said, “The counterfeiters are becoming ever more capable. It may sound incredible, but, quite apart from the false accessories such as T-shirts and hats, there are people who ingeniously realize fake Ferrari cars, of course, to be sold at very high prices.” Daneo further spoke about the anti-counterfeiting reward scheme, “… it’s a great satisfaction to see that so many people—from employees to fans—have taken to heart this important battle.”
