Citroen recently introduced the Basalt X — a special edition model of the coupe SUV. The French carmaker is now preparing to launch a similar variant of its platform sibling — Aircross. The company has officially teased the Aircross X on its social media handles. Pre-bookings for the mid-size SUV have commenced.

Interested buyers can book the same via Citroen’s official India website by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. We expect the Aircross X to come with the same set of updates as the Basalt X, which means the coupe SUV will receive mostly cosmetic and feature updates.

Citroen Aircross X: Expected Updates

The latest social media teaser indicates a new dark green colour scheme for the Aircross X. Besides the new colour scheme, the Aircross X is expected to carry the ‘X’ badge on the tailgate, similar to the Basalt X. The teaser also shares some tweaks inside the cabin as well. For starters, the dashboard is expected to receive a leather-wrapped dashboard and new seat upholstery.

In terms of features, the teaser hints at the addition of cruise control with a new dedicated button on the steering wheel. Features like push-button start/stop, white ambient lighting, LED fog lamps, updated interior trim, and an auto-dimming IRVM are expected to be carried forward from the recently-launched Basalt X. Further, a 360-degree camera will be offered as an option for Rs 25,000.

The biggest feature addition is likely to be Citroen’s new in-car artificial intelligence (AI) assistant called Cara. which can offer voice commands, provide vehicle data, optimise routes based on traffic, and more. In terms of safety, the Aircross already offers six airbags, ABS with EBD, and ESP as standard across the range.

Citroen Aircross X: Expected Powertrain

Mechanically the Citroen Aircross X will remain unchanged. Powertrain options will include 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.2-litre turbo petrol engines. The entry level variants will be powered by the former that produces 81 bhp and 115 Nm of peak torque. This engine is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The higher-spec variants will come with the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor that churns out 109 bhp and 190 Nm (205 Nm with AT) of torque. This engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
