With the SUVs flooding the streets, manufacturers are also updating the vehicles with new and improved safety features. Here are the five most affordable SUVs that come standard with six airbags.

Hyundai Exter is the most affordable compact SUV that’s packed with six airbags as a standard feature. It offers other features like ISOFIX anchorages for child safety, a dash camera, an anti-locking braking system with EBD, a tyre pressure monitoring system, vehicle stability management, a rear parking camera, electronic stability control and hill start assist control.

The Exter is available in petrol and CNG. It is powered by a 1.2-litre engine which produces 82 bhp at 6000 rpm and 113.8 Nm at 4000 rpm and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The CNG model, on the other hand, churns out 67.7 bhp at 6000 rpm and 95.2 Nm at 4000 rpm and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Nissan Magnite

Nissan only sells only two vehicles in India, the Magnite and the X-Trail. The Magnite is one of the first compact SUVs to offer six airbags as a standard feature. It also comes with a 360-degree camera, auto-dimming internal rearview mirror, rear parking camera, vehicle dynamic control, traction control system, hill start assist, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), tyre pressure monitoring system and dash cam.

The Nissan SUV is offered in two engine trims — the 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1-litre turbo. The former churns out 71 bhp at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm at 3400 – 3600 rpm while the turbo makes 98.6 bhp at 5000 rpm and 160 Nm at 2800 – 3600 rpm.

Skoda Kylaq

The new kid on the block in the compact SUV joins our list. The Kylaq is available with a single engine — 1-litre turbo petrol with 114 bhp at 5000 – 5500 rpm and 178 Nm at 1740 – 4000 rpm. It is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter.
