JSW MG Motor hit a home run when it launched the Windsor EV last year. Killer pricing backed by a spacious and comfortable cabin, good amount of features, and a wide range of options, made it an instant favourite among buyers looking to buy an electric car.
Within six months of its launch, MG has already dispatched more than 20,000 units of electric crossover across the country. And now, the company is planning to launch the first update of the Windsor EV soon. This will include some new features and more importantly a larger battery pack.
MG Windsor EV: Updates expected
According to Autocar India, the MG Windsor EV will soon receive a larger 50.6 kWh battery. This battery pack is currently offered in the Wuling Cloud EV on sale in Indonesia and claims a range of 460km on the CLTC cycle. As of now, the Windsor is offered with a 38kWh battery that returns a single-charge range of 332km (ARAI-rated). This version of the Windsor is expected to hit MG showrooms across the country as early as next month.

However, according to Carwale, the Windsor with the 50.6 kWh battery will start reaching dealerships August 2025 onwards. MG is likely to retain the same front-wheel driven PMS motor that pushes out 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque with a top speed of 170 kmph. The Windsor can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.6 seconds.
The Windsor EV was the first electric car in India to be offered with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program where prices of the crossover under this module started from Rs 9.99 lakh in addition to battery rental of Rs 3.9 km per hour. As a complete unit along with the battery pack, prices for the MG Windsor EV start at Rs 14 lakh and go up to Rs 16 lakh (all ex-showroom).
Besides the larger battery pack, the updated WIndsor will also benefit from Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which is likely to offer features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, etc. As of now safety kit is loaded with features like 6 airbags, electronic stability control, 360° camera, hill hold control, parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Other convenience features on offer in Windsor EV include a 15.6-inch infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way adjustable powered front passenger seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the rear bench has a sofa feature that can recline to 135-degrees.
