Build Your Dreams (BYD) may not be new to the Indian market since the Chinese brand has been actively in the commercial vehicle segment since 2007. In the passenger vehicle space, BYD currently offers two models— Seal and Atto 3— both fully electric models. It was recently reported that BYD is expected to launch a new model in India soon.
That report may turn out to be partially true. In the earlier report, it was mentioned that BYD could launch the Bao 5 SUV in October this year. However, this may not be the case. The Chinese brand has teased a new vehicle on its website and social media handles which isn’t the Bao 5.
The partial glimpse of the sleek LED headlight suggests it could be the M6 electric MPV. Hence, it seems BYD intends to keep an all-electric lineup for the Indian PV market. The M6 is an updated version of the e6 MPV which was earlier on sale in India exclusively for the fleet segment. The teaser also comes with a caption that reads “Transformation to a New Generation 7”. The “7” in the teaser most likely represents that it is a 7-seater vehicle.

BYD M6 teased: Exterior & Interiors
The teaser image shows the face of the updated battery-powered MPV featuring the company’s branding flanked by tri-LED projector headlights with integrated LED DRLs. The social media handle also mentions the word “Max”. For context, the M6 is also known as the BYD Song Max.
The refreshed M6 boasts a sleek new front fascia, featuring full-LED headlamps with a distinctive revised LED daytime running lamp signature. The headlamps are now connected by a satin trim element adorned with BYD lettering, adding a touch of sophistication. The front bumper has been redesigned with more sculpted air vents and elegant chrome accents, enhancing the vehicle’s visual appeal.

At the rear, the M6 facelift presents a bold new look with enlarged wraparound tail-lamps, complete with intricate LED detailing. The rear bumper has also been subtly refined, incorporating chrome inserts for added luxury. While the profile remains largely unchanged, the e6 is expected to debut a fresh set of alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin has received a significant upgrade with a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen display, replacing the previous 10.1-inch unit. The dashboard retains its familiar layout, with subtle revisions to the centre console, including two wireless charging pads, new switchgear, and a sleek drive selector lever. A new steering wheel adds a touch of modernity, while the analogue instrument cluster remains a classic touch.

BYD M6 teased: Expected powertrain specs
Internationally, the M6 is available with two battery options: a 55.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 420 km and a 71.8 kWh unit with 530 km range. In all likelihood, the India-spec model will be available with the latter. Hence, we can expect the MPV to churn out an output of 201 bhp and 310 Nm of peak torque.
