BMW launched the all-electric equivalent of the X1 in India at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Called the iX1, the India-spec version of the entry-level electric SUV is available exclusively in the long wheelbase format. Based on the same platform as the ICE-powered X1, the iX1 is locally assembled in India at the BMW’s facility in Chennai.

BMW iX1 LWB: Design
The design of the iX1 is almost identical to its fossil fueled sibling barring a few EV-specific touches such as a sealed-off front fascia with a faux kidney grille. This is cascaded by a very familiar twin-pod LED projector headlights. Since it comes with the M Sport package as standard, the iX1 benefits from visual enhancements such as 18-inch M light alloy wheels, and a large-surface diffuser at the rear.

Other exterior highlights include Aluminium Satinated roof rails, square wheel arch contours, sculpted LED taillights, and flush fitting door handles. BMW is offering the iX1 LWB in five metallic colour options namely Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, M Carbon Black, M Portimao Blue and Sparkling Copper Grey.
BMW iX1 LWB: Dimensions
Measuring 4,616 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, the BMW iX1 is the longest in its segment. Moreover, the wheelbase is 112mm longer and the overall length is 116mm more than the standard ICE-powered X1. However, the width remains consistent at 1,845 mm.
BMW iX1 LWB: Interiors & Features
Like its petrol and diesel-powered X1, the battery-powered iX1 LWB gets an identical cabin layout with the biggest highlight being the widescreen curved display housing a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other feature highlights include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control system, a 205W 12-speaker Harman Kardon system, leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, etc.
Safety is taken care of by eight airbags, a park assist feature, electronic parking brake, and Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control with brake function, front-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, etc.
BMW iX1 LWB: Powertrain specs & Charging options
Powering the iX1 LWB is a single PMS electric motor driving the front wheels, producing 201 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The motor derives its energy from a 66.4 kWh battery pack that promises a range of 531 km (MIDC) on a single charge. The SUV can clock 0-100 kmph in 8.6 seconds The iX1 LWB also comes equipped with adaptive recuperation and one-pedal driving.

As for charging, BMW is offering a complimentary 11kW Wallbox charger which takes 6 hrs and 30 mins to recharge from 0 to 100 percent. The iX1 can also be recharged by a DC fast charger with capacity up to 130 kW that adds 120 km range on a single charge.
BMW iX1 LWB: Price & Rivals
BMW is offering the iX1 LWB in a single eDrive20L trim which is priced at Rs 49.00 lakh. It will lock its horns with Mercedes-Benz EQA, Volvo EX40 Recharge and Volvo C40 Recharge. which are priced at Rs 67.20 lakh, Rs 56.90 lakh, and Rs 62.95 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
