Hyundai is revving up to take the EV mid-size SUV segment by storm with the much-anticipated Creta EV. This new electric SUV will make its debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Creta already rules the internal combustion SUV class, and the EV version is set to turbocharge Hyundai’s position even further. At an investor’s event, Hyundai spilled the beans on the Creta EV’s launch timeline. Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India, announced that this new EV SUV will debut at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025.

Hyundai Creta EV: What to expect?

There has been a series of spy images of the Creta EV test mule and based on this, it clearly shows that Hyundai will be tweaking the design rather than revamping it completely. Being an EV, it houses the typical closed front grille and more aerodynamic alloy wheels for better efficiency. A mild redesigned rear bumper is also expected and will sport a new Creta EV badge.

Hyundai Creta EV: Interiors and Features

Hyundai has spruced up the cabin by borrowing design elements from the Alcazar rather than the Creta ICE. The new EV SUV gets a brand new three-spoke steering wheel along with the driver selector. The centre console has a familiar layout with twin cupholders and control buttons for electronic brake with auto hold, a 360-degree camera and front ventilated seats. Apart from a wireless phone charger, the automatic climate control set-up is like the Alcazar. The Creta retains the twin 10.25-inch display for the infotainment system and the driver’s console.

The Creta EV will be packed with Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist control, electronic stability control, front parking sensors and much more.

Hyundai Creta EV: Specifications and Competition

Based on reports, the Creta EV is expected to be powered by a 45 kWh battery pack with a range of up to 500 km on a single charge. This places it at par with Tata Curvv’s entry-level variant while the MG ZS EV gets a 50.3 kWh battery pack. The upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is also looking to get into the thick of things with two battery options — 49 kWh and 61 kWh with an output of 142 bhp and 171 bhp respectively. The 61 kWh will also be available in AWD and have a higher output of 181 bhp.
