A recent accident that involved an Audi and a BMW has claimed a life and left three people injured. The incident took place on Puri-Konark marine drive last Sunday night. As per a report on Odisha TV, it is speculated that the accident was a result of a drag race between the said Audi and BMW luxury cars. The two cars were being driven by two friends who had gone to attend their friend’s birthday. The deceased is identified as Nanda Kishore. The police have not yet come up with the exact reason behind the crash. However, it is speculated that the two friends must have got involved in a drag race as to who reaches Konark first. This led to extremely harsh and careless driving, leading to the life-taking mishap. According to the police, the accident took place at 3.30 AM. The eyewitnesses present at the venue said that the BMW was racing ahead of the Audi and was going with almost double of the speed limit in the area. Due to high speed and fog, the driver must not have seen the road properly due to fog. The occupants of BMW were rescued by Police and were rushed to the hospital. Nanda Kishore took his last breath there only.

Shockingly, the Audi driver escaped from the spot along with his car. Such incidents bring to light the importance of road safety and why it should be kept in mind at all times. While there is no denying the fact that such luxury car makers like BMW and Audi leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety of the occupants, it should not be mistaken that a driver is completely safe inside such cars no matter what his or her driving behaviour is. Such accidents occur solely due to human negligence and harsh driving due to which a driver not only puts his life but also other’s in danger. No matter, how safe a car is, technology has its limits and it can’t save a person every time, especially when a person commits a serious mistake like harsh driving.

In order to avoid this, we urge our readers to always wear a seatbelt while driving and most importantly, always keep a check on speed. Also, in case of winters when there is dense fog, it is advised to stay in the speed limit and proceed as per the visibility. Also, use fog lamps in such weather to offer yourself the maximum visibility for the path ahead.
