James Bond loves a Vodka Martini but he also loves his Aston Martin. And though he is mostly seen driving the DB range in the movies, the British super spy did make one exception in the 2002 film Die Another Day, where Pierce Brosnan drives a Vanquish that can disappear, hence, fondly called “Vanish”.

As whimsical as it was in the movie, in the real world the Vanquish means serious business. The one that involves a V12, an extreme rarity in today’s day and age. Aston Martin has launched the all-new Vanquish in India at a whopping price of Rs 8.85 crore (ex-showroom). With global production capped to only 1000 units, the owners of this car will belong to a group of exclusives.

Aston Martin Vanquish: Design

Unveiled globally in September 2024, the Vanquish carries forward a similar design as its other Aston Martin contemporaries yet it gets a very distinct identity of its own. It gets a new front bumper housing a massive signature vaned grille that not only feeds more air to the engine but also gives the Vanquish an assertive stance. Further, it boasts of Vantage-like sweptback headlight clusters with new LED internals giving the car a fresh appeal.

Enhancing its sports car credentials are carbon-fiber air intakes on the hood, and a carbon-fiber splitter on the front bumpers. Like all Aston Martins, the Vanquish doesn’t shy away from flaunting its curves with subtle yet prominent creases on the side profile and a carbon-fibre side strake on the fenders. The two-door coupe silhouette ensures the Vanquish enjoys superb and efficient aerodynamics.

Accentuating the indomitable stance are the new 21-inch forged wheels shod with Pirelli rubbers. Coming to the rear, one of the key design elements of the Vanquish is the Kamm Tail, which incorporates an integrated decklid spoiler to ensure aerodynamic balance from front to rear. This is complemented by quad titanium exhaust tips and an aggressive-looking diffuser housed within the rear bummer. Adding to the rear-end aesthetics is the ‘Shield,’ meticulously crafted to create the illusion of floating at the back of the car.

Aston Martin Vanquish: Interiors & Features

The interior of the new Vanquish has been completely redesigned as compared to its predecessor. The center console has been lowered into a horizontal plane, enhancing the sense of clarity, spaciousness, and luxury. As expected, it gets quilted sport seats wrapped in a leatherette upholstery and a dual-tone dashboard also wrapped in premium leatherette materials as well as some carbon fibre elements enhancing its sporty appeal.

Some other highlights inside the cabin include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, physical controls for audio and climate control, a 1,170-watt, 15-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system, 16-way electrically adjustable seats, and a 3-spoke steering wheel.

Aston Martin Vanquish: Powertrain & Performance

However, the biggest highlight has to be what lies underneath the hood. Powering the Aston Martin is a  new 5.2-litre Twin-Turbo V12 petrol engine that pumps out 824 bhp and 1,000 Nm of torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission aided by an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.

As for performance, the Aston Martin Vanquish can clock a top speed of 345 kmph, making it faster than the speed of sound (332 kmph). It can breach the 100 kmph from a standstill in just 3.3 seconds. However, Aston Martins are not only high speeds, it’s about going fast comfortably for a long distance.

Hence, the latest grand tourer from the British marque gets Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers that ensure precise handling and high-speed stability while maintaining exceptional ride comfort. The supercar also features a finely tuned electric power steering for improved handling, complemented by a newly developed electronic stability control system.
