After scoring a 5-star rating at Global NCAP a few years ago, Tata Altroz has now earned the same laurels at Bharat NCAP as well. The Altroz has secured a 5-star safety rating for both Adult and Child Occupancy when it was recently crash tested by Bharat NCAP. Notably, the pre-facelift Altroz was one of the first Indian cars to be awarded 5 stars in Global NCAP crash tests back in 2020.
It must be noted that the Altroz received its first mid-cycle facelift in May this year, and the latest evaluation has been conducted on the updated model. The Altroz has scored 29.65 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP) and 44.9 points out of 49 in child occupant protection (COP), making it officially India’s safest hatchback.
With this, Tata Altroz has become the only CNG-powered hatchback in the country to be awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP. Moreover, it has also become the first car in its segment and body style to achieve the highest 5-star safety rating under the Bharat NCAP protocol across all its powertrains.

In AOP, Altroz scored 15.55 out of 16.00 in Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 14.11 out of 16.00 in Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. In the former, the Altroz provided ‘good’ protection to all critical body regions of the driver, with the exception of both tibias, which were rated as offering ‘adequate’ protection. For the co-driver, protection was assessed as ‘good’ across all body regions, apart from the right tibia, which received an ‘adequate’ rating.
In the side mobile deformable barrier test, the occupant’s head and pelvis demonstrated ‘good’ protection, the chest received a ‘marginal’ rating, and the abdomen was assessed as ‘adequate’. By contrast, in the side pole impact test, all critical body regions of the passenger were rated as providing ‘good’ protection.
