Tata Motors has taken the covers off the 2025 Altroz ahead of its official launch on May 22. Based on ALFA Architecture, the Tata hatchback is one of the safest cars in its segment as it has a robust body structure built to absorb impact. Ever since its launch in January 2020, this is the first major update for the Altroz.
Tata Motors has revealed that the 2025 Altroz will be available in five variants — Smart, Pure, Creative, Accomplished S and Accomplished +S. The Indian automobile manufacturer is aiming to make the new Altroz a more premium product. We take a look at the hatchback’s base model, Smart, and find out what features come standard with Tata Motors.Â
2025 Tata Altroz Smart: Design
The Altroz was always one of the best-looking hatchbacks in the market, and now, with a new split headlight structure with twin pod headlamps, it has introduced an air of premiumness. Unfortunately, the first two variants will not come equipped with an LED headlight cluster and will have to make do with halogen lights.

The Altroz sports a new all-black grille and tweaked front and rear bumpers. What is first in the segment is that it will come standard with flush door handles. The top model will sport 16-inch alloy wheels, but the entry-level model is expected to come with 15-inch steel rims. The new Altroz gets LED tail lamps.Â

Entering the cabin is effortless and convenient, with doors opening to a 90-degree angle for easy access. Step inside and you’re welcomed by the new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. In terms of safety, the 2025 Altroz comes with six airbags and an electronic stability program (ESP).

2025 Tata Altroz Smart: Engine Options
The Altroz is set to offer two petrol, one diesel, and one CNG powertrain options. Its 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine will come in two variants — an entry-level trim producing 87 bhp and 115 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a higher-spec version delivering 118 bhp and 170 Nm, with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 89 bhp and 200 Nm, coupled with a 5-speed manual. Additionally, a CNG variant will provide 72 bhp and 103 Nm, also equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission.
