2025 BMW X5 launched with new variants, added features

BMW X5 continues to lock horns with Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q5, and Land Rover Discovery.

BMW has launched an updated iteration of the X5 in India at a starting price of Rs 1.0 crore (ex-showroom). Prices of the X5 have seen a uniform increase of Rs 2.5 lakh across all four variants. The luxury SUV now comes with exterior and interior enhancements thanks to the new M Sport Pro package. The 2025 BMW X5 continues to be a CKD product in India assembled locally at the company’s facility in Chennai.

2025 BMW X5: Exterior & Interior highlights

The overall design of the BMW X5 remains unchanged, barring a few subtle tweaks that give it a refreshed look. For instance, the signature kidney grille is enlarged and flanked by adaptive matrix LED headlamps with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs. The Bavarian carmaker has also added fresh 21-inch alloy wheels to give the X5 a different presence. 

With the new M Sport Pro package added, the X5 now gets high gloss black elements around the grille, air breathers and tailpipe trims. Further, the M Sport exhaust and M Sport brakes with red high gloss painted brake calipers further accentuate the SUV’s high-spirited character. Moreover, BMW is offering six metallic paint options with the new X5 namely Brooklyn Grey, Carbon Black, Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, Tanzanite Blue, and Black Sapphire.

The sporty appeal extends to the cabin with BMW Individual piano black trim on the dashboard and signature M seat belts. All variants now also equip the driver and front passenger with standard Comfort Seats, featuring fully electric adjustments and lumbar support.

2025 BMW X5: New tech added

The biggest feature upgrade for the 2025 BMW X5 is the Adaptive 2-Axle Air Suspension which is now offered as standard across all four variants. The other major addition is the standard xOffroad package that adds four off-road driving modes namely (xSand, xRocks, xGravel, and xSnow. The Offroad package optimizes vehicle height, xDrive, acceleration, transmission, and DSC inputs for sand, rocks, gravel, or snow, while reinforced underbody protection enhances the vehicle’s durability.

Other notable features in the X5 include a fully digital BMW Widescreen Curved Display comparing a 12.-3-inch driver’s display and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, a 4-zone automatic climate control system, a panoramic sunroof, and a Harman Kardon Surround sound system. 

2025 BMW X5: Powertrain specs

The German marque is offering the 2025 X5 with both petrol and diesel engine options. The former consists of a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that develops 376 bhp and 520 Nm of peak torque. This powertrain helps the X5 accelerate from 0 -100 kmph in just 5.4 seconds.The latter, on the other hand, is powered by a 3-litre 6-cylinder in-line turbo diesel that dishes out 282 bhp and a peak torque of 650 Nm. The version of the SUV accelerates from 0 -100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds.

Both engine options come paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels as standard across the range. Additionally, both powertrains come with a 48V Electrical Motor as standard that provides a boost of 12 horses and 200 Nm of torque when needed. There are three drive modes on offer: Comfort, Efficiency and Sport.
