Hyundai is gearing up to launch the Alcazar facelift on September 9 but this is an old piece of news. Bookings for the seven-seat SUV commenced last week and interested buyers can book the vehicle at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The updated Alcazar will come in four variants—Executive, Prestige, Platinum, and Signature, and it will be offered in nine colour options.
The South Korean brand has now started promoting the upcoming iteration of Alcazar on social media. The first advertising commercial was released on the brand’s social media handles recently and it features the company’s brand ambassador in India and Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan a.k.a SRK.
2024 Hyundai Alcazar NFC feature teased
The latest video of the updated Alcazar teases a new feature addition in the SUV. In the video, SRK is seen unlocking the car by tapping his phone on the door handle. This feature is known as Near Field Communication (NFC) technology which is a rarity in the Indian passenger vehicle industry. NFC is sort of a digital key but different from the contemporary remote lock/unlocking feature.
In NFC, a smartphone communicates with the car’s electronic system over a short distance, up to five centimetres. When an electric current passes through the smartphone’s primary coil, it generates a magnetic field that transmits data and energy at a frequency of 13.56 MHz.
2024 Hyundai Alcazar: Other expected features
Even in its current form, the Alcazar is one of the most feature-packed models in its segment. In its new avatar, it is expected to be loaded with twin 10.25-inch displays — the infotainment system and the instrument cluster—, digital instrument console, three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, front ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, a premium Bose music system, voice assist panoramic sunroof and a cooled glove box.
In terms of safety, the facelifted Alcazar will offer six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and electronic parking brake as standard features. In addition, higher variants of the 2024 Alcazar will boast of Level 2 ADAS offering 19 features like Forward Collision Avoid Assistance for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, Junction Turning, adaptive cruise control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and much more.
2024 Hyundai Alcazar: Expected powertrain specs
Hyundai is expected to carry forward the same engine options as the outgoing model. This includes a 1.5-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The former delivers 157 bhp and 253 Nm, while being mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The diesel engine, on the other hand, generates 114 bhp and 250 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter.
