As per a recent report from Express Drives, Mercedes-Benz India will introduce the new E-Class after GST (Goods and Services Tax) implementation by the Government of India which is expected to be implemented by April 2017. Now, Continental has announced that it will supply two widescreen and high-resolution displays as a single unit to the upcoming sedan. This dual display will be produced in volume for the first time.

The dual display unit consists of two screens in one module and provides the driver with all the necessary information like distance to empty, navigation with maps, speed, tachometer etc. There are two large screens, a 12.3-inch with 1920X720 pixels and the other mounted above the centre console which replaces the conventional instrument cluster and analogue instruments. The dual displays provide realistic effects and graphics and seamlessly integrate with each other in order to provide an undistracted driving experience.
“The dual display offers drivers of the new E-Class a brand-new user experience. New display and customization options turn human-machine communication into a real experience,” says Dr. Frank Rabe, Head of Instrumentation & Driver HMI business unit at Continental.

The driver can also customise the display information and choose between three designs on how content is displayed on the screen. This enhances the safety of the vehicle as well as the occupants by projecting all the safety-relevant information under all operating conditions.

“We are constantly working on new, exciting user concepts to ensure that drivers receive relevant information that has been optimally prepared. Screens in particular play a central role for the human-machine interface. With our Dual Display, which is being used in volume production of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class for the first time, we have created a unique selling proposition in this segment,” added Dr. Frank Rabe.
