We reported earlier that South Korean manufacturer Hyundai will bring the 2017 Verna to India this year. Now there are more images and a video of the 2017 Verna testing on Indian roads released by Indian Autos Blog. It is expected to launch by August 2017. The third generation Verna will be based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 philosophy and will get a new design language like the Tuscon and Elantra.
The 2017 Verna will get engines options of a 1.4 litre petrol, a 1.4 litre diesel, a 1.6 litre petrol and a 1.6 litre diesel engines. The engine will be mated to 5 and 6 speed manual transmission, and a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The sedan measures 4,385 mm in length, 1,729 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. At the front, the new Verna gets redesigned bumpers, hexagonal grille and projector headlamps with LED DRLs. In addition, the car will get 15 inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps.
Inside the cabin, the 2017 Verna gets touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. In addition, it will get options of dual tone interior, automatic air condition controls and engine start/stop button. In terms of safety, the new Verna will get ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard, while the higher variants will get rear view camera and six airbags.The 2017 Verna will be priced slightly higher than the current generation Verna and when launched it will compete with the likes of 2017 Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
