Motorcycle tech is becoming increasingly accessible in India. KTM was the first to cram a ton of superbike technology into an accessible motorcycle like the 390 Duke, and then came TVS with the RTR 310. Now, it seems like commuters want the same as well, and proof is the new Hero Glamour, which has been seen testing with cruise control — yes, that’s right.
Hero Glamour gets cruise control
What is interesting about this is that this is the first Hero to get cruise control, and that too, a commuter. The spy shot reveals what looks like the Hero Glamour, but what seems unusual is the fact that the test mule is wrapped in duct tape instead of the usual black and white wrap that prototypes are seen in.
Something that has left us curious is on what tech the cruise control will be based on. If it is ride-by-wire, this could increase the cost of the Glamour significantly and make it an expensive motorcycle in the price-sensitive commuter segment.
Other details on the upcoming Glamour reveal an LCD instrument console similar to the one on the Hero Xtreme 250R, and the updates look like Hero’s upping the premium factor on its motorcycles.
Hero Glamour on sale today
Currently, the Hero Glamour is priced at Rs 95,098 ex-showroom, and is available in two variants — standard and Xtec. The motorcycles are powered by a 124.7 cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine that makes 10.3bhp and 10.4Nm of torque with the help of a five-speed gearbox.
Hero claims a fuel efficiency of 65kmpl, and the updated model will retain all these specifications, as they are crucial in the segment. Speaking of the segment, it will be interesting to see what price gain the Hero Glamour with cruise control will have, and if Hero gets it right, the Hero Glamour will be India’s most affordable motorcycle with cruise control, which the TVS Apache RTR 310 currently holds.
When launched, the Hero Glamour will compete with the Honda Shine in the segment, along with a number of other 125cc motorcycles made by Hero itself and Bajaj.
