Ultraviolette is truly living up to its commitment of producing fast electric motorcycles and now the Bengaluru-based EV manufacturing startup has proof to boast this claim. The company’s flagship product– the F99 has become the fastest made-in-India motorcycle after recording a quarter mile time of 10.712 seconds.
It puts the F99 in the same league as some of the popular international middleweight superbikes. The record was set at the Valley Run, held in Aamby Valley, Lonavala on December 1, 2024. Certified by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), this achievement makes F99 the fastest Indian motorcycle to date, surpassing the previous record set in 2022.
This development came a few weeks after Narayan Subramaniam, CEO of Ultraviolette Automotive, confidently asserted to shatter two-records: the fastest quarter-mile time by an Indian motorcycle, and the highest top-speed by an Indian motorcycle. With the first one dusted, Ultraviolette now has its eye set on the latter.
The motorcycle was ridden by multiple-time national champion Abhishek Yadav. This monumental achievement gives F99 the bragging rights of being the “Fastest Indian”. This title was once held by Bajaj Pulsar 220F. To celebrate this achievement, Ultraviolette has introduced a merchandise collection with the title “The Fastest Indian” limited to just 99 units. The merchandise comprises the special livery worn by the race bike which broke that achieved this feat.
How Ultraviolette F99 achieved this milestone?
In order to come out on top, the F99 had to shed some weight. It did by getting a full carbon fibre exoskeleton, carbon fibre battery pack, and a carbon fibre sub-frame. After the latest refinement, the bike tips the weighing scales at 180 kg. The motorcycle operates on a 400 V battery architecture powering a liquid-cooled electric motor that pushes out 120 hp (90 kW) and 972 Nm of torque at the wheel.
On paper, the F99 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3 seconds and can breach 200 kmph in under 10 seconds. The electric sports bike has a claimed top speed of 250 kmph which the company intends to put to test soon. It comes equipped with upside-down Ohlins front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by twin front discs and a single rear disc paired with Brembo calipers. The bike rolls on lightweight alloy wheels shod with slick tyres.
