TVS Orbiter launched in India: Set to become the best-seller soon?

TVS has launched the Orbiter electric scooter in India, which keeps the design simple but efficient. Here are all the details.

TVS has launched its third electric scooter offering in India, the new Orbiter, priced at Rs 99,990, ex-showroom. The new TVS Orbiter will be the company’s entry-level offering in the EV space and is targeted at youngsters and families. With the launch of the Orbiter, TVS has taken the fight to Ola and its range of entry-level offerings.

TVS Orbiter: Design and features

In terms of design, the new TVS Orbiter features a minimalistic approach with a tall flyscreen, a flat floorboard, a long single-piece seat, and curvy rear panels. The scooter features LED lighting, gets a 34-litre under seat storage, and a host of electronic aids for rider and scooter safety.

The new TVS Orbiter gets a digital instrument cluster that supports smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. That said, the scooter gets cruise control, hill hold function, and reverse parking assist. Moreover, the scooter is available in six shades: Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Stellar Silver, Cosmic Titanium, and Martian Copper.

TVS Orbiter: Battery capacity, charging, and equipment

The Orbiter EV is powered by a 3.1kWh battery pack that TVS claims an IDC range of 158km on a full charge. This is a step away from the iQube, as the scooter is available with multiple battery packs. Apart from this, TVS has not shared details of the Oribiter’s acceleration figures or top speed. Charging details have also not been shared, which is expected to be available in the coming days.

In terms of equipment, the TVS Orbiter gets telescopic front forks, twin rear shocks, drum brakes at both ends, a 14-inch front wheel, alloy wheels at both ends, a USB charging outlet, and large sqaurish mirrors. There could soon be more variants of the Orbiter as well, since some of the pictures that are making the rounds on the internet showcased a TVS Orbiter model with a disc brake at the front.
