TVS has grabbed headlines again for two reasons — for the new 300cc liquid-cooled engine showcased at MotoSoul and the new adventure motorcycle snapped testing. Both have a connection as the engine will be powering the new adventure motorcycle that TVS will be launching soon. So here’s a closer look at the new TVS RTXD4 engine and how it differs from the current 310cc power plant.
TVS RTXD4 engine vs 310cc engine — Specifications
The new RTXD4 engine is an all-new unit and is built ground up. The engine is a liquid-cooled motor that develops 35bhp and 29Nm of torque with the help of a six-speed gearbox. The engine will get ride-by-wire technology, meaning it can have ride modes and cruise control — crucial for an adventure motorcycle.
| Specification | 300cc unit | 310cc unit |
| Displacement | 299cc | 312cc |
| Power | 35bhp | 33.5bhp |
| Torque | 29Nm | 27.5Nm |

The current 310cc engine that TVS shares with BMW is also a liquid-cooled powerplant that makes 33.5bhp and 27Nm of torque with the help of a 6-speed gearbox. TVS has further tweaked this engine to make more power in the RTR 310.
TVS RTXD4 300cc engine — To power a new adventure motorcycle

While it goes without saying that the new 300cc engine will power the upcoming adventure motorcycle from TVS, there was limited information until the motorcycle was seen testing. The motorcycle gets typical adventure bike styling with a tall windshield and an upright position, while the images show other key hardware.
The motorcycle gets alloy wheels, most probably a 19-17 setup, along with two USD shocks, hinting that one will be with adjustability, disc brakes at both ends, dual-channel ABS, ride modes, a TFT instrument console, LED lighting, and an upswept exhaust.
