Hold your helmets, folks, legacy two-wheeler companies are leading the way in the electric vehicle segment. TVS Motor’s iQube is pulling off a cheeky hat-trick, reigning as India’s top electric two-wheeler for three months straight. What is the icing on the cake for these traditional internal combustion engine automotive brands is that the runners-up position goes to Bajaj Auto. Once upon a time, segment leader by quite a margin, Ola Electric, had to contend with third place. It seems while startups scramble, these old-school champs are electrifying the game with a smirk.
TVS Motor
TVS took the reins of the two-wheeler electric segment in April and has not looked back since then. Its e-scooter, iQube, saw a massive 80% jump year-on-year as it registered 25,274 units in June 2025. TVS Motor leads the way with a 24% market share. What has further propelled its sales is that the company updated the iQube lineup with a larger 3.5 kWh battery, replacing the 3.3 kWh one and slashed the price by around Rs 8,000. The new iQube variants have an output of 5.9 bhp and 140 Nm of peak torque and charge 0% to 80% in 3 hours.
Bajaj Auto
Bajaj Auto retained its second position as it sold 23,004 units, which is a massive 154% leap year-on-year. Bajaj has been busy launching its second-generation Chetak with more power, range and storage space. Recently, the company updated its entry-level variant with the Chetak 3001, which is priced at Rs 99,900, ex-showroom. This has further helped the company increase its reach in smaller towns. What’s interesting to note is that both TVS and Bajaj together have a market share of around 46%.
Ola Electric
How the mighty have fallen. Ola Electric registered a 45% drop year-on-year as it sold 20,189 units. Unlike TVS and Bajaj, Ola has something to cheer about as it registered a 9% growth month-on-month. The Bengaluru-based EV start-up’s market share has evaporated from 46% to around 19%.
Ather Energy and Hero Vida
Ather Energy has seen consistent growth as it clocked 14,512 units in June, which is an impressive 133% growth year-on-year. Its market share has bumped up from 7.8% to 13.8%.
Hero MotoCorp has a market share of 7.3%, which is a huge 149% jump year-on-year. In June, the company sold 7,664 units. Hero is expected to increase its market share further as it recently launched the affordable Vida VX2 at Rs 59,490, which comes with a subscription plan.
