2025 began with adventure motorcycles and the distaste of real adventure came via the KTM 390 Adventure series launch — the 390 Adventure and Adventure X. Good news is that BMW is also gearing up to launch the F 450 GS in India later this year, while Hero launched the updated XPulse 210. The missing link — the TVS Apache RTX 300!
The TVS Apache RTX 300 has been spied testing a few times and for those looking to buy an adventure motorcycle, the TVS offer is tempting because the company knows a thing or two, even more in fact, about dirt bikes and how stuff works on the road and off it. So, how does the TVS RTX 300 – the upcoming adventure motorcycle – compare against the Austrian 390 Adventure X? Here’s a quick comparison.
TVS Apache RTX 300 vs KTM 390 Adventure X: Design and equipment

The TVS Apache RTX 300 was spotted with full camo in the last sightings, apart from one incident when it was seen undisguised. The motorcycle features a typical ADV design with a tall windscreen, split headlights, an upswept exhaust, and an upright seating position.
The motorcycle gets USD forks, a monoshock at the rear, alloy wheels, disc brakes at both ends, and long travel suspension, with what looks like a comfortable seat. Overall, the RTX 300 looks its part and also suggests that it may get an adjustable suspension.
The new KTM 390 Adventure X features every design detail of the 390 Adventure, minus a few details. The Dakar-inspired look is on the dot, while the big difference is the alloy wheels — 19-inch front and 17-inch rear — and the non-adjustable front suspension setup. The underbelly exhaust is the same, the seat is the same and so is the windscreen.
TVS Apache RTX 300 vs KTM 390 Adventure X: Feature and engine specifications

Speaking of features, the TVS Apache RTX 300 is expected to get a TFT instrument console with phone connectivity, a charging port, cruise control, dual-channel ABS, and hopefully the elaborate electronics suite the RTR 310 and the RR 310 get, including wheel lift control and the climate controlled seat — some hate it, I know.
The new KTM 390 Adventure X gets a few stripped features compared to the 390 Adventure, but still gets dual-channel ABS, a TFT instrument console with phone connectivity, LED lighting all around, and more. It misses out on the three-axis IMU the 390 Adventure gets which includes lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, and Cruise control amongst others.
Moving on tho the engine, both motorcycles are powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The KTM 390 Adventure X clearly has the upper hand in terms of performance, including displacement, power, and torque.
Engine specifications | RTX 300 | 390 Adventure |
Displacement | 300c, single | 399 cc, single |
Power | 35 bhp | 45.3 bhp |
Torque | 27 Nm | 39 Nm |
Gearbox | 6-Speed | 6-Speed |
We haven’t ridden both motorcycles yet — the Apache RTX is not launched yet and the 390 Adventure X will soon come to our hands — however, we have ridden the 390 Adventure and the engine is the same. It will all come down to pricing and TVS can keep it competitive, hopefully, unlike the RTR 310.
