The Triumph Thruxton 400 has been snapped on tests again, and what makes it interesting this time is that it’s seen without any camo, and in its full paint scheme. The Thruxton 400 will be the fifth motorcycle in the Triumph 400cc range, after the Speed 400, Speed T4, Scrambler 400X and the Scrambler 400 XC.

Triumph Thruxton 400 — what do the images reveal?

The biggest reveal with the image is the paint scheme on the motorcycle, and this example sports a dual-tone paint job, featuring red and silver. The rest of the mechanical parts are finished in black, giving the motorcycle a sporty yet retro look.

And speaking of the looks, the motorcycle features a semi-fairing for the front, while the rest boasts a naked style. Apart from the fairing, a seat cowl, and clip-on bars, the rest of the motorcycle shares most components with the Speed 400.

Upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400: Engine specs and features

Speaking of sharing components, the upcoming Thruxton 400 shares the same engine as the Speed 400, a 398cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder mill that makes 40bhp and 38Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The engine, in its current state of tune, has a lot of initial grunt, but does struggle a bit at the top-end. Hopefully, Triumph is able to address that with the upcoming Thruxton 400 to better suit its sporty nature, by giving the engine a new map, or tweaking its gearing accordingly.

The motorcycle is suspended by USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, while it gets 17-inch cast alloy wheels, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, a semi-digital instrument cluster, traction control, and more.

The new Thruxton 400 is likely to be positioned above the Speed 400 in Triumph’s 400cc lineup, and is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 2.80 lakh when launched in August this year.

The upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400 will have no direct rivals in the segment, but expect it to compete with sportier siblings from rivals like the RC390 and even the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650.
