The Triumph 400 twins – Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X – have received their first official price hike after their introductory pricing came to an end earlier this year. Both motorcycles have received a price increase of Rs 1,500, effectively bringing their ex-showroom prices to Rs Rs 2,34,497 and Rs 2,64,496, respectively.
Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X — Still lucrative
The two motorcycles were launched in India last year and the Speed 400 was launched at an introductory price of Rs 2.23 lakh, ex-showroom. The pricing was a shocker for the industry, as the level of finish and what the motorcycle had to offer was a deal too hard to resist.
The Triumph Scrambler 400X was launched later the same year, priced at Rs 2.62 lakh, ex-showroom, again undercutting its competition by a huge margin. Later, post the first 10,000 bookings, the company ended the introductory pricing for the Speed 400, bringing it to Rs 2.33 lakh, ex-showroom. Now, despite their first price hike, the two motorcycles still remain extremely affordable in the segment.
Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X — Specs and competition
The two Triumph 400cc motorcycles are powered by the same 398cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that develops 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
