Triumph has launched the Scrambler 400 XC, which is said to be a more potent off-roading motorcycle than the pre-existing Scrambler 400X. As a result, the iconic British motorcycle brand has added a few critical components to the new Scrambler 400 XC.

Hence the new Scrambler 400 XC is priced at Rs 2.94 lakh, as opposed to the Scrambler 400X which is priced at Rs 2.67 lakh (both ex-showroom). Let us check out what are the key differences between the two Triumph scramblers.

Triumph Scrambler 400 XC vs Scrambler 400X: Design

The basic design of the Scrambler 400 XC is identical to Scrambler 400X although the former benefits from additional components which gives the Scrambler 400 XC a more rugged appearance. As a result, the hardened plastic engine bash plate has given way to a metallic bash plate. A small body-coloured flyscreen and a higher beak-like front fender make it look more like an adventure bike.

Triumph Scrambler 400 XC vs Scrambler 400X: New Colours

The Scrambler 400 XC is further visually distinguished with the help of three new colour schemes namely – Racing Yellow, Storm Grey, and Vanilla White. All the new colour options are prominently displayed on the tank, front fender, and windscreen, enhanced by a vintage-style racing stripe running along the side of the tank and across the windscreen.

Meanwhile, the minimalist tail section retains the same clean, aesthetic design as seen on the Scrambler 400 X. The Scrambler 400 X, on the other hand, is offered in a range of dual-tone colour schemes, including Matte Khaki Green with Fusion White, Volcanic Red with Phantom Black, Pearl Metallic White with Phantom Black, and Phantom Black with Silver Ice.

Triumph Scrambler 400 XC vs Scrambler 400X: Hardware

Since the 400 XC is the more off-road-focused motorcycle, it gets tubeless spoke wheels. However, the wheel and tyre sizes remain unchanged. The Scrambler 400 XC rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels shod with 100/90 and 140/80 size rubber. The 400 XC weighs 190 kg, making it 5 kg heavier than the 400 X.

Triumph Scrambler 400 XC vs Scrambler 400X: What’s unchanged?

The features and engine specifications of the new Scrambler 400 XC remain unchanged. Like other 400cc models in Triumph’s lineup, it is powered by a 398cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and features a torque-assist clutch for smoother gear shifts.

The Scrambler 400 XC is equipped with switchable traction control and an off-road ABS mode, making it well-suited for tackling rough and challenging terrain. Additional features include a USB-C charging port, an analogue speedometer with a multi-information LCD display, a protective headlight grille, and rubber knee pads for added comfort and style.
