Triumph has launched a more accessible derivative of its flagship scrambler in India. Called Scrambler 1200 X, this fully-imported CBU model is priced at Rs 11.83 lakh (ex-showroom) and has been listed on the company’s official India website. This makes it more affordable than Scrambler 1200 XE but Rs 1.10 lakh more expensive than the outgoing XC trim.

Besides a more pocket-friendly price tag, Scrambler 1200 X also offers a more accessible seat height of 820mm which can be further lowered to 795mm courtesy of an accessory seat. Even hardware setup on the 1200X is more modest than the other 1200 Scramblers. The fully-adjustable suspension makes way for non-adjustable upside-down front forks and preload-adjustable for the rear Marzocchi monoshock.

Anchorage duties are carried out by twin front and single rear disc brakes at both ends with axially-mounted Nissin callipers as opposed to Brembo M50 brake callipers in the top-spec 1200 NC trim. Also, handlebars on the new Scrambler 1200 X are 65mm narrower than the XE trim. Further, the XE also gets a nearly 10mm spacer and adjustable foot levers, which isn’t the case for the 1200 X.

Triumph Scrambler 1200 X: What’s unchanged?

The Scrambler 1200 X is still underpinned by the same tubular steel frame.  Powering it is the same 1,200cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree crank that produces an identical 89 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque, although peak power and torque arrive 250 rpm earlier. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

In terms of features, it gets the same fully-digital instrument console with part-TFT and part-LCD display that gets optional Bluetooth connectivity providing turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts. Besides, Triumph offers electronic aids such as five riding modes— Rain, Road, Sport, Off-road and Rider configurable— IMU-enabled traction control and switchable rear ABS.
