Tork was one of the first Indian manufacturers to launch a completely localised electric motorcycle in India in the form of Kratos. It is also one of the few battery-powered motorcycles that have a sporty character. The Pune-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing startup has updated its top of the line Kratos R.
Tork Kratos R Eco+ mode
The flagship electric motorcycle from Tork now gets an additional Eco+ ride mode, designed to eke out the maximum range from the battery on a single charge. Previously, the Kratos R was available with three ride modes namely– ECO, CITY & SPORT. With the introduction of the Eco+ mode, peak range has gone up to 180 km on a single charge.
Notably, top speed in the Eco+ mode is capped at 35 kmph. Tork says the Eco+ mode has been specifically designed for city commuting where range is a top priority rather than performance with limiting factors.
Speaking on the newly added feature, Kapil Shelke, Founder & CEO, TORK Motors said, “The addition of ECO+ mode comes as a result of requests from our customers. People riding in the city demanded more range in certain riding conditions while having the option to quickly switch to higher performance when needed. We added the ECO+ mode to offer them flexibility and enhance the versatility of the package that the KRATOS R already provided.”
Besides the additional Eco+ mode, the Kratos R now also gets a Reverse mode, making it easier for the rider to get out of sticky situations. Tork has also confirmed that the Eco+ ride mode will be made available for existing Kratos R owners as well.
Powering Tork is a patented 9kW Axial Flux motor churning out 38 Nm of peak torque which draws energy from a 4kWh, IP67-certified, lithium-ion battery pack. Tork claims the motor offers an extraordinary 96% efficiency rating. Using a fast charger, the battery can be rejuvenated from zero to 80 percent within an hour.
