The Indian arm of Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki Motorcycles has launched their Suzuki Gixxer SF with ABS at a starting price of Rs 95,499,ex-showroom, Delhi, as confirmed by dealer. The ABS version of Gixxer SF is available in both Fuel Injection and Carburetor options. The fully faired motorcycle gets no mechanical changes and continues to be powered by a 154.9cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled BS4 engine that produces 14.5 bhp of power and peak torque of 14Nm. The engine is equipped is equipped with Suzuki’s SEP technology which claims to provide better fuel efficiency. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission, the Gixxer SF also gets additional features such as LED tail lamp, rear disc brake, aluminium exhaust cover and Automatic headlamp On (AHO) feature that has been made mandatory by the government. The suspension duties are done by a 41mm large front forks and 7 step adjustable mono shock at the rear. The kerb weight of the motorcycle 140 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres. The motorcycle measures 2,050mm in length, 785mm in width, 1,085mm in height, 1,330 mm in wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 160mm. The Gixxer SF gets fully digital instrument cluster gear position indicator, RPM indicator, LCD trip meter and programmable gear shift indicator.
In March 2016, the government had announced that two-wheelers with an engine power of 125cc or less will have to be equipped with ABS. The rule will be mandatory for all the two-wheelers from April 1, 2018.
Suzuki Gixxer ABS is available in two colours- Metallic Triton Blue Colour and Glass Sparkle Black/ Metallic Black.
