Suzuki has issued a recall of its 250cc models namely— Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 250, and V-Strom SX. All these models are powered by a 249cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine. Reportedly, this recall has been issued on account of a faulty camshaft resulting in an abnormal wear of the exhaust cam lobe.
This abnormal wear is possibly a result of improper heat treatment of parts in a certain batch of engines during production. The affected engines are likely to suffer from sudden stalling and make abnormal noises.
Suzuki 250cc bikes recalled
The Japanese bikemaker and its dealerships are now identifying and recalling the bikes from the batches that have this specific problem. Dealerships will contact affected motorcycle owners for a service appointment at their nearest service centre. The faulty parts will be replaced free of cost at all authorised Suzuki service centres.

This is the second time when Suzuki has recalled its 250cc offerings–Gixxer 250 and Gixxer 250 SF being recalled. Previously, the Japanese brand had recalled 199 units of the quarter-litre Gixxers in 2021 for excessive engine vibrations.
Powering the 250cc models is a 249cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 26.1 bhp at 9300 rpm and a peak torque of 22.2Nm at 7300 rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. In terms of features, Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 250 and V-Strom SX get LED taillights and headlights, and a digital intrument console.
