Spied: Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 with alloy wheels, dual-disc brakes gives away BIG hints of variants, launch date

Rumours and previous test mule sightings point to a 750cc parallel-twin engine, which is anticipated to be a reworked, bored-out version of the twin-cylinder 648cc unit currently powering the brand’s 650 range.

Ever since Royal Enfield’s senior management teased images of the rumoured Himalayan 750 being tested in Ladakh, the internet couldn’t keep its calm. The Himalayan 750 is the brand’s attempt at making an adventure tourer with a bigger capacity engine – a motorcycle that offers more power and torque to take on extreme riding conditions. While RE is yet to make any of the information official, industry insiders have spotted mules of this upcoming motorcycle in the wild.

The latest spy shots of the rumoured Himalayan 750 have added an interesting insight – the big-engined Himalayan may have variants like most premium-spec ADV offerings. The spy shots reveal a variant of the ADV motorcycle equipped with alloy wheels – a first for RE’s adventure-centric lineup.

Hence, when Royal Enfield brings the bike in its final form to EICMA 2025, you can expect to see the Himalayan 750 in road-going and off-road-centric variants.

For all those eagerly waiting for Royal Enfield to reveal the motorcycle, here’s a collection of everything we know about the Himalayan 750 based on the leaks and teasers.

A new engine for the Himalayan 750

At the core of the Himalayan 750 will be an entirely new, high-performance engine. Rumours and previous test mule sightings point to a 750cc parallel-twin engine, which is anticipated to be a reworked, bored-out version of the twin-cylinder 648cc unit currently powering the brand’s 650 range (Continental GT, Interceptor, Classic 650, etc).

Performance figures are expected to be competitive for the segment, with output likely to be upwards of 50bhp and 60Nm of torque. This power plant will be mated to a six-speed gearbox, promising better highway cruising and off-road capability than the smaller Himalayan 450.

Two Variants: Adventure and Road-Biased

The latest sighting confirms that Royal Enfield is planning to release at least two distinct variants to cater to different riding styles:

1. Adventure variant (Spoke wheels): Previous spy shots showed a traditional adventure setup with spoke wheels (likely 21-inch front and 17-inch rear) and aggressive, off-road-biased tyres.

2.  Road-Biased variant (Alloy wheels): The recently spotted test mule featured alloy wheels (rumorued to be 19-inch front and 17-inch rear) fitted with tyres that have minimal treads, indicating a model designed for superior on-road performance and handling. This should be ideal for long-distance touring purposes.

Advanced  technology

Beyond the engine and chassis, the Himalayan 750 is set to feature significant technological upgrades:

TFT Instrumentation: The bike will come equipped with a circular TFT screen, which is most likely to be borrowed from the Himalayan 450. This screen is expected to feature smartphone connectivity and Google Maps navigation, enhancing its utility as a long-distance tourer.

Suspension: The motorcycle will utilise a new frame and subframe designed to handle the increased power. Crucially, the latest test mule showed what appears to be a remote preload adjuster for the rear suspension, with the adjuster knob clearly visible under the sub-frame. This feature offers riders easy adjustment of the rear suspension based on load and terrain, a key trait for serious touring machines.

Dual-disc brakes: The entire 750cc range of motorcycles from Royal Enfield will get dual-disc brakes, promising a much superior braking performance than the single-disc brakes on the current 650 models.

Production readiness: The latest test model was also observed with production-ready accessories, including a saree guard (a requirement for the Indian market), crash guards, and the signature fuel tank cage seen on the smaller Himalayan models.

Expected launch timeline

With testing accelerating and production-ready elements now visible, the official launch is highly likely to take place at the EICMA 2025 show in Milan, Italy. This global debut is expected to be followed by the official launch later this year, possibly at Royal Enfield Motoverse 2025.
