Royal Enfield showcased its first ever electric motorcycle at Exhibition of International Motorcycle and Accessories (EICMA) at Milan, Italy. Royal Enfield has shown a glimpse of what’s expected from them in the future.
Royal Enfield Electric Himalayan: What is it?
As mentioned earlier, the new adventure motorcycle is all-electric and the design is inspired by the new Himalayan 452. Even though the Indian two-wheeler company hasn’t revealed the specifications and details of the electric ADV, as the name suggests, Royal Enfield wants the electric Himalayan to be a capable off-roader. According to Royal Enfield, the electric Himalayan has the characteristics of an adventure bike with the advantages of an electric powertrain.

The electric Himalayan is a blueprint for Royal Enfield’s future products. Hence, it is the window to what to come from the Royal Enfield stable. Speaking about the electric Himalayan project, Mario Alvisi, Chief growth Officer – EV, Royal Enfield, said, “The Electric Himalayan Testbed is much more than a design concept. For us, this is our vision and a glimpse of what to expect from us in the future. There is a much larger electric mobility blueprint that is being brought alive at Royal Enfield as we continue to work on multiple ‘electrifying’ expressions of pure motorcycling.”
Royal Enfield Electric Himalayan: Hardware
According to reports, the electric platform is built by both Royal Enfield and Stark Future. The former invested 50 million Euros in the Spanish company last year which will in turn help Royal Enfield explore and develop electric motorcycles. Based on media reports, the electric Himalayan is based on Stark’s high-performance electric motocross, the Varg. According to Royal Enfield, the design team used materials like organic flax fibre for composite bodywork, focused on in-house designed battery and the architecture.
