Royal Enfield is known to make multiple motorcycles that share the same platform and engine, such as the 350cc J Series engine that powers the Classic, Bullet, Meteor, and Hunter. Now, with the launch of the new Sherpa platform that underpins the Himalayan and the Guerrilla, Royal Enfield has hinted at more plans.
In an interview with MCN, Mark Wells, Royal Enfield’s Chief of Design, hinted at more upcoming products based on the 450 platform, a supermoto based on the Himalayan and a sportsbike based on the Guerrilla 450.
Wells said, “You look at it, and you think there’s a thousand and one things we could do that would be really cool with that. If you’ve ridden the Himalayan, then a supermoto on that would be awesome, or a sportsbike on the Guerrilla could work really well, you know?”

He continued, “You look at the custom scene and you see how people have different takes on the same product right, and somebody can take a product that everybody’s not sure about, and then twist it make it custom, and you get a totally different appeal to it. That’s what we try and do internally.”
While a supermoto will be an interesting product for Royal Enfield, a sportsbike will also appeal to many and with the company’s Continental GT Cup already up and running with Continental GT-R650 motorcycles, the Guerrillas could soon take over.
