With EICMA 2024 around the corners, the buzz around upcoming motorcycles has gained quite a bit of traction online. Most of the traction is centred around Royal Enfield which has been a prominent face at the annual motorcycle exhibition in Milan for the last few years. The Chennai-based bikemaker has ramped up its operations and presence in foreign markets in the past decade.
Hence, the palpable hype around every launch from Enfield is understandable. The Eicher subsidiary is gearing up to showcase a wide range of upcoming models at EICMA starting November 4. Some of them will be pre-production concepts while others will be the final production models. One of the latter is expected to be the new 650cc scrambler.
Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 details
Speculated to be named as Interceptor Bear 650, a patent of the same was leaked online a few weeks back. Royal Enfield has also filed a trademark for the same name in India. Test mules of the bike have been spied on numerous occasions in the past year or so. Recently the bike was teased by the company on its social media handles thus revealing its prospective debut at the EICMA.

The upcoming twin-cylinder scrambler has been teased once again in a new promotional video shared by Royal Enfield on its social media handles. As the same suggests, the Interceptor Bear will be based on the same chassis as Interceptor 650. Hence, we expect to find a lot of familiarity between the two models when the former is officially presented to the world at EICMA 2024 next week.
The most critical of them is the steel tubular chassis, however, the rear subframe in the scrambler is expected to be different from the roadster. Besides this, body panels, components and the overall design are also expected to remain unchanged. From previous spy shots and recent teasers it has been deduced that the upcoming Interceptor will get upside down front forks and twin rear shock absorbers, unlike the gas-filled ones offered in the current Interceptor.
It will get the traditional round LED headlight with redesigned indicators and a new tail lamp. It also has a simple grab tail in the back for the pillion and a single seat. Being a Scrambler, it sits on a brand-new set of versatile dual-purpose tyres. The latest video teaser reveals that the Interceptor Bear 650 will receive the circular TFT instrument console which is available in Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450.
This means the top-spec variant of the Interceptor Bear 650 will come equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, in-built navigation powered by Google, USB charging port, and music playback. Given the nature of the motorcycle, the upcoming scrambler is likely to benefit from a ride-by-wire throttle and multiple ride modes.

Powering the Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear is the same tried-and-tested 648cc air-oil cooled parallel twin engine, which has an output of 47 bhp and 52.3 Nm of peak torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper assist clutch.
