There are plenty of Royal Enfield motorcycles in development currently and we often get to spot them on the roads. The Chennai-based bikemaker is in process to expand the 450cc lineup which saw its first launch in the form of the new Himlayan 450 a few months back.
This 450cc lineup will also comprise a few other models including scrambler, roadster, and a rally-spec adventure bike. Recently, the upcoming 450cc roadster and scrambler were spied testing alongside each other.
Royal Enfield Scram 450, Roadster 450: Specs
The biggest common element on both these motorcycles is a 452cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pushes out 39.5 bhp and a peak torque of 40 Nm. This motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch. While all the 450cc range of model will be underpinned by the same steel, twin-spar tubular frame, they are likely to feature a different rear subframe.

Both bikes are likely to be equipped with telescopic front forks and an adjustable rear mono-shock, while braking will be handled by a set of disc brakes aided by dual-channel ABS. The scrambler may even benefit from switchable rear ABS for more support on off-road terrains.
Royal Enfield Scram 450, Roadster 450: Styling & features
As far as styling goes, the 450cc roadster gets a slightly more rounded fuel tank and a slightly flatter and smaller rear with a single-piece round taillight. On the other hand, the scrambler gets a more sculpted fuel tank and a floating tail section with LED winkers that double up as taillight, the same setup as seen in Himalayan 450.
Common visual elements include round LED headlamps, rear tyres with thick profile, flat and wide handlebars, and centre-set footpegs. The scrambler gets a sleeker, upswept exhaust muffler whereas the roadster is likely to come with a stubbier and more rounded unit.
Rumours suggest that the scrambler will be named Scram 450 and will replace the existing Scram 411 whereas the roadster could be called Hunter 450, a step-up to Hunter 350. While no specific details regarding their launch is known yet, we expect at least one of these bikes to make it to the market this year.
