Royal Enfield launched the new Scram 440 yesterday after unveiling it at the MotoSoul 2024 in November. The Scram 440 is a significant upgrade over the outgoing Scram 411 since it continues to be based on the older Himalayan 411. Here’s a look at what all has changed from Scram 411 to make the Scram 440.

Royal Enfield Scram 440 vs Scram 411: Larger engine

The biggest difference between the older Scram and the new Scram is the engine. The power mill on the Scram, although based on the same engine block as the Scram 411, has been bored out to enlarge the cylinder displacement. As a result, peak power and torque outputs have increased. Also, Royal Enfield has replaced the old 5-speed gearbox with a more advanced 6-speed unit that gets a slip and assist clutch.

Royal Enfield Scram 440 vs Scram 411: Hardware & Dimensions

Although based on the same underpinnings as its predecessor, Enfield has re-enforced the chassis which has resulted in multiple changes including the growth in dimensions. The new Scram is now longer, taller, and heavier than the old Scram. Further, a stronger chassis means the new Scram 440 can incorporate a top box which the older Scram couldn’t. Other hardware configurations like the suspension setup, brake and wheels remain unchanged. That said, the top-spec Force trim gets tubeless tyres wrapped around alloy wheels.
