The Royal Enfield 650 lineup has expanded to four offerings, and the latest two offerings, the Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650 take a different approach compared to the Interceptor and the Continental GT. They sport a new chassis, different suspension setup, more tech, larger brakes, different wheel sizes and much more.

For most, the Meteor 650 and the new Shotgun 650 may look the same but with different clothes. While the answer to this is yes, it is also a no. Let’s take a closer look at the similarities and differences between the Royal Enfield Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650.

Royal Enfield Meteor 650 vs Shotgun 650 – Similarities

The Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650 are based on the same chassis, share the front mudguard, aluminium switchgear, front and rear brakes with dual-channel ABS, the headlight unit, and the suspension, but with slight changes to it.

Apart from the above, they also share the tried and tested 650cc parallel-twin engine that makes 46bhp and 52Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. They are also in the same state of tune, which is slightly different compared to the Interceptor and the Continental GT.

Moving on to the differences, the aspects pointed out earlier themselves have many. Starting with the Chassis, the Shotgun gets the same frame, however, with a different rake angle for the suspension. And speaking about the suspension, the front and rear have slightly less travel compared to the Meteor 650.

Also, another big difference is the wheels — the Meteor 650 uses a 19-inch front and a 16-inch rear tyre setup, while the Shotgun 650 uses an 18-inch front and a 17-inch rear setup. The alloy wheel design is also different on the two motorcycles.

Coming now to the overall design. The Meteor 650 is a hardcore cruiser, with its low-slung stance, wide bars, forward-set footpegs, and a step-up seat. The Shotgun 650 slants more towards a bobber design, with a single seat, short handlebar, mid-set footrest position, small tank and full fenders.
