Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 specs revealed: All you need to know

Royal Enfield will officially launch the new Himalayan 450 on 7 November and will take on the likes of KTM Adventure 390, Yezdi Adventure and Triumph Scrambler 400 X.

Royal Enfield has officially revealed specifications of the upcoming Himalayan 450 which has been gathering steam all over the internet for the past few weeks. Prices for the new adventure bike will be announced next week. Ahead of its official launch, let us look at all the major specs on offer in the new Himalayan 450.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: Variants, colour options

Royal Enfield will be offering the new Himalayan in three variants namely– Base, Pass, and Summit. The base trim is available in a single Kaza Brown shade, while the mid-spec Pass variant comes in Slate Himalayan Salt and Slate Poppy Blue colours. The top-spec Summit trim is available in two shades— Hanle Black and Kamet White.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: Engine specs

The biggest talking point of the new Himalayan 450 is its new heart. Powering the latest iteration of the adventure bike is an all-new 452cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine built from the ground. Called the Sherpa 450, this new motor kicks out 40 PS of power at 8,000 rpm, and 40 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. This engine is paired with a new 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch.

Underpinning the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is a new steel twin-spar tubular frame with a twin-sided swingarm which sits on brand new Showa-sourced suspension setup featuring 43mm upside down forks and a link type rear monoshock, with a travel of 200mm at each end. Braking duties are carried out by larger 320mm front and 270mm rear rotors. The new Himalayan rolls on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoked wheels which are shod with dual-purpose tubeless tyres.

The latest iteration of Himalayan gets three seating options– a standard seat height of 825mm, a low seat height of 825 mm and a tall seat height of 845mm. In addition, it comes with a Rally Kit that pushes the seat height to 855mm. Wheelbase and ground clearance have been increased by 45mm and 10mm, respectively. Kerb weight has been reduced by 3 kilos
