The Royal Enfield Guerrilla competes with multiple motorcycles in the market, such as the Triumph Speed 400, Hero Maverik, Harley-Davidson X440, and even the Honda CB 350 RS, to an extent. But a rival that boasts Swedish-Austrian pedigree is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, a retro scrambler that boasts looks, power, and tech.

Let’s dive right past the looks and onto the equipment the motorcycles carry. The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 gets telescopic forks, a monoshock at the rear, 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 120-section front, and 160-section rear tyres, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, a TFT dash (on the top variant) with phone connectivity and navigation, tubeless tyres, and five colour choices.

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 gets Adjustable USD forks from WP, a preload adjustable rear monoshock, 17-inch spoke wheels, 110-section front and 150-section rear tyres, tube tyres, disc brakes at both ends with switchable dual-channel ABS, and a TFT dash, amongst others.

The Royal Enfield features no electronic aids apart from two ride modes – Eco and Power. The Husqvarna on the other hand gets an extensive electronics suite that includes traction control, ABS modes, and a quickshifter. When compared, the Svartpilen 401 is better equipped.

Both motorcycles are powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Guerrilla 450 uses the same 40bhp engine the Himalayan uses and the Svartpilen 401 uses the same unit the KTM 390 Duke uses. The Svartpilen 401 makes more power than the Guerrilla 450 and similar torque figures, justifying the price. Also, considering the better suspension setup and the rider aids, the asking price on the Husqvarna Svartpilen makes sense.
