Royal Enfield has just announced that its all-electric Flying Flea range will be powered by Qualcomm Technologies, giving these bikes more brainpower than your average smartphone. The new electric fleet will run on the Snapdragon QWM2290 system-on-chip (SoC) and the Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud Platform, making Flying Flea one of the first motorcycles to plug into the future of real-time connected services. So, get ready for a ride that’s not only fast but smarter than your Wi-Fi router—because who said a motorcycle can’t be a tech wizard too?
Mario Alvisi, chief growth officer, electric vehicles, Royal Enfield said, “Flying Flea is more than a new brand from Royal Enfield — it is a whole new approach in which we are deeply invested in terms of ground-breaking infrastructure, authentic design philosophy and modern technology. While all aspects of our connected electric motorcycles have been developed in-house by our dedicated technical team, our work with Qualcomm Technologies is a significant step in our effort to build advanced EV technology and create a unique and differentiated product experience in the global electric mobility space.”

On the strategic partnership, Jeff Arnold, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., added, “The Snapdragon QWM2290 SoC for 2-wheelers is enabling a new era of connected mobility by bringing connectivity, intelligence and a safety focus to your biking experience. This strategic collaboration brings together Royal Enfield’s iconic heritage, steeped in history and adventure, with Qualcomm Technologies’ cutting-edge technology and innovation. Together, we are creating a motorcycle that not only pays homage to the Flying Flea’s storied legacy but also sets a new benchmark for connectivity, performance, and rider experience.”
Royal Enfield Flying Flea: What is it?
Royal Enfield stole the spotlight at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy, with the reveal of its all-new Flying Flea electric range. The first bike to roll out under this fresh EV brand is called the C6, an homage to the iconic motorcycle that the British Army relied on during World War II. To power this electric beast, Royal Enfield has partnered up with Spain-based Stark Future SL to create a new L platform specifically designed for electric two-wheelers.
In terms of design, the C6 goes full minimalist. With its slim, low-slung frame, retro round LED headlamp, girder front forks, and long fender, it oozes classic charm. You might even spot some familiar DNA from the Classic 350 and Classic 500, both of which were inspired by the Flying Flea. The pre-production C6 is a single-seater, featuring an aluminium swingarm, alloy wheels, and narrow tyres. It’s all about taking on the modern roads with a vintage twist.
